For we trust in our God and through His unfailing love we will not be shaken
As we said farewell to Twenty Fifteen and moved into the new year, I found myself breathing a sigh of relief. Last year was full of transition, adversity and trials, yet as I reflect upon it, I am reminded of the verse in Isaiah 64:8: 'We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.' No matter how many failures and roadblocks we encounter, the Potter will use the broken pieces from our own lives to reshape, reform and transform us (Jeremiah 18:1-8).
The new year brings with it renewed courage, strengthened faith, trust and anticipation. I will be joining Engineering Ministries International (eMi) in Calgary as an intern architect for six months. I will be working with a team of volunteer professionals to design a school and homes for over 50 orphaned and vulnerable children in Irrua, Nigeria.
The next couple of weeks will be full of yet more transition, travel and adjustments. On Monday January 11, I made the move to Calgary. I have had a week to make last minute preparations and spend some time relaxing before I begin with eMi. The past few weeks have been riddled with preparations, agonising visa application issues and unanswered questions, however, yesterday was a day of quiet rejoicing as I finally received my Nigerian Visa in the mail.
Tomorrow, January 17, I will depart for Colorado Springs in the US where I will be spending a week for orientation. I then return to Calgary on January 24 and spend four days in preparation for our trip to Nigeria on January 28. We will be spending ten days in Nigeria before returning to Calgary once again. The remainder of my time will be spent working in eMi's Calgary office to complete the design and compile a final report.
I am naturally very excited about this opportunity that God has placed before me. My prayer is that I would allow God to mold me and make into the person that He wants me to be. I pray that I might be as the clay in the Potter's hand, that He would fashion my heart to seek Him.
Please join with me in praying for this time of transition, that I might find peace and joy in my work. Pray for the team as we prepare to leave later in January, particularly that everyone would receive their Visa before the departure date. Please pray for health and safety in our travels and that the team would work together to serve our common goal.
Bless you xxx
